THE EIGHT TRAITS OF A TRUE MAGICIAN
RESPECTFUL
Always be on time. Always be kind to your audience. Treat others the way you want to be treated. Never interrupt or interfere when others are performing. Never say you know how a trick is done.
PREPARED
Practice, practice, practice. Always have a plan. Have everything set up. Know your beginning, middle and end. Be ready for questions like, "how did you do that? Can you do it again? I know how you did it."
ENTHUSIASTIC
Be happy. Smile. Be excited about your performance. Use your voice and hand gestures. Don't be too loud. Have good posture. Sleep well and eat healthy so that you have energy.
CONFIDENT
Be proud of you. Remember you are have practiced every move. Be prepared knowing what you will say and how you will say it. Engage with your audience. Trust in yourself and have fun performing.
HUMBLE
Never boast or compare yourself to others.. Admit your mistakes. Listen to and learn from others. Be kind. Help others succeed. Give credit to others. Enjoy the successes of others.
CREATIVE
Be different. Don't take ideas from others without permission. Don't be afraid to fail. Add your unique self to your art. Think up new ways of doing things and new ideas to make your magic your own.
AUTHENTIC
Be more than yourself. Be your best self. Share the real you with others. Don't try to impress others. Let your audience get to know you and connect with them. Be their friend.
GIVING
Give of yourself with no expectation of anything in return. Leave the audience with something that they can take home from you, something you have given them through your art.
